May this book be read as a call: freedom is built through collective action, asserting itself against all forms of oppression. The achievements of April and the 1976 Constitution opened a path, but they did not bring the struggle to an end.

This redesign reproduces the texts of a booklet originally published in 1979 by Semear Para Unir, created in the aftermath of Portugal’s dictatorship, which ended with the Carnation Revolution. It’s a direct transcription of the original booklet, carefully preserving its rhythm, paragraph structure, and sequence. The source material was made available through a personal loan, reinforcing its character as a circulated, community-based object. The images were carefully chosen and added in this edition, as a way to reflect how life in Portugal was at the time. The images are credited in the book and the photographers are:
